The 11-year-old Our Lady of the Angels student has booked his spot with the Australian team for an international futsal championships in Hawaii in December — just a year after taking up the indoor sport.
Anthony is also excelling in outdoor football where his favourite team is Spanish giants Real Madrid and loves playing the game with his siblings Nick and Matthew in their backyard.
“I am very excited about being selected for the Australian national futsal team and can’t wait to go and play in Hawaii,” said Anthony, who enjoys playing the electric guitar when he is not on the football pitch.
“I am a little nervous but am really looking forward to the opportunity to play over there.
“I hope our team can win the tournament in Hawaii and I hope this experience will make me an even better player.
“I want to keep training, developing my skills and learn more about the game.”
The Beaumont Hills youngster is focused on football playing for NSW Metro team at the national trials while training with Futsal Institute.
“My coaches Steve Luburic and Anthony Tomelic are both very professional and encouraging,” Anthony said.
“I have learnt so many skills, drills and techniques from them and they really helped me become more confident in my games.”
Anthony then shifts gears to play outdoors with Hawkesbury FC which brings him to his main goal of playing for one of the biggest football clubs in the world.
“My dream would be to one day play for Real Madrid as they are my favourite team and I have loved them ever since I can remember,” Anthony said.
“My favourite player is Luka Modric.”
